DiCiM at the Czech European Researchers’ Night

The Czech European Researchers’ Night took place on 6th October 2023, from 6 pm to midnight. The event attracts people from all generations and backgrounds. The annual event aims to disrupt the stereotype of researchers and scientists being isolated in labs. It encourages researchers to demonstrate their work to the general public in an engaging and interactive way.

DiCiM was represented at the event by Radoslav Škapa and Michal Krčál. They are both from the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Masaryk University and presented at the event. They showcased how augmented reality can be used in the product repair process.

The two researchers demonstrated the use of augmented reality through an interactive game and video presentation. Over 80 people visited their booth, located at the university campus in Brno-Bohunice.

In addition to the presentation, visitors participated in a discussion about circular economy, sustainability, and how IS/ICT can aid these areas. They shared their experiences with the device connectivity, focusing on the benefits, risks, and durability of these products. Visitors also discussed how they personally try to recover value from used products through self-repair. A short quiz was also held and helped to spark the discussion.

The event was an exciting one and was a great opportunity for DiCiM to demonstrate augmented reality and the DiCiM project in general in an engaging and interactive way.
