DiCiM Partners Visit Arcelik Manufacturing and Refurbishment Facility in Turkey

From 27th- 28th February 2024, Arcelik Manufacturing and Refurbishment in collaboration with DiCiM Scientific Lead Kungliga Tekniska Hongskolan (KTH) arranged a site visit for DiCiM Project Partners Lexmark, Gorenje and C-ECO. The site visit took place in Turkey’s beautiful Istanbul and Eskişehir, home to the Arcelik Campus.

The key purpose of the visit was to identify and manage synergies and collaboration, fostering an environment ripe for cross-fertilisation opportunities between respective demonstrators.

Throughout the facility visit Arcelik colleagues demonstrated the advanced digital technology-driven distribution processes and production lines where refurbished, and remanufactured products (mainly refrigerators) are being identified and sorted throughout the manufacturing process.

DiCiM partners were presented with the unique opportunity to comparatively assess and learn from the adaptation opportunities of the applied Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Image Processing, and Augmented Reality solutions that accelerate the process at decision points and support the human decision-making methods by visualising the process with the most advanced digital technologies.

It was concluded that the processes between visiting partners and Arcelik have several overlaps and connection points in technology and digital solutions that can be further assessed on the upcoming developments during the DiCiM project.

On behalf of the DiCiM team we would like to extend our gratitude to the team at Arcelik for the outstanding hospitality during our recent visit. Your company's dedication to ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience truly stood out.
